Polk deputies seek suspects after man, 66, fatally shot
The Polk County Sheriff's Office is scouring a Lakeland neighborhood after a man was shot to death Tuesday afternoon. Around 2:50 p.m. Tuesday, deputies received reports of gunshots in the area of 1044 Captiva Point. When deputies arrived, they found a dead man lying on the ground at the front door of the residence. The victim has been identified Horace Scott, 66, who lived at the residence. Detectives learned two or three black males fired several shots at Scott, killing him. The suspects then fled on foot to the south. Deputies have set up a perimeter and are searching for suspects, Sheriff Grady Judd said."We will be out here all night long, talking to witnesses, and scouring the area for these suspects," Judd said.
