Police: Man lit girlfriend on fire, carjacked van, robbed home
Lakeland police arrested a man who they say set his 26-year-old girlfriend on fire during a domestic dispute then carjacked a van and burglarized a home on Friday night. The woman was taken to a hospital for treatment of severe burns, police said. She was listed in critical condition, said Ann Dinges, spokeswoman for the Lakeland Police Department. After an overnight search, police arrested Joshua Adam Kimbrough, 32, at 10 a.m. today. He is being treated for dog bites that he received from a K-9 while being arrested, Dinges said. Police say Kimbrough set his girlfriend on fire about 7:30 p.m. Friday at a home at 1117 N. Stella in Lakeland.A few minutes later, they got a call about an armed carjacking of a 2006 Toyota van at the Fast Stop Store, 820 E. Memorial. Then, at 8:29 p.m., police say Kimbrough burglarized a home in the 900 block of Fenton Lane. Finally, at about 9:15 p.m., Kimbrough tried to use a stolen credit card from the home at a gas station on Highway 98 North, Dinges said. Police recovered the stolen van.
