Police: Bradenton motorcyclist injured by red-light runner

A Manatee County motorcyclist was critically injured this morning when he was struck by a vehicle that had run a red light in Bradenton, authorities said. Norman E. White, 54, of Bradenton, was heading east on 30th Avenue East and entered the 15th Street East intersection at 11 a.m. Sunday when the 2012 Harley-Davidson Classic he was riding was struck by a 2012 Dodge Caravan driven by Roger Darling, 39, Bradenton, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said. Darling and a passenger identified as 14-year-old Kayla Darling suffered minor injuries, while a third occupant of the van, 10-year-old Taylor Darling was not injured. The impact threw White onto the windshield of the van and then onto the pavement, troopers said. He was taken to Blake Medical Center where he was admitted in critical condition, troopers said.
Darling was charged with failing to stop for a traffic light, troopers said.
