A Tampa pedestrian was killed Thursday morning after walking in front of a vehicle on Hillsborough Avenue.
About 6:40 a.m., Charles Raymond Hart, 61, was walking north on a grass median trying to cross the westbound lanes of Hillsborough Avenue, west of Lagoon Street, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Hart failed to yield to traffic and was struck by a 2011 Chevrolet HHR driven by Chamel Amado Rodriguez, 34, of Tampa, the highway patrol said.
Hart ended up in the inside travel lane while Rodriguez’s car was blocking the inside and center lanes of Hillsborough, the highway patrol said.
Hart was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11 a.m.
Rodriguez was not hurt.
