The book of political advertising

When the book is written on the failure of our democratic system, a chapter should be devoted to political advertising. What we are exposed to every day is misleading and out of context statements; simpleton sound bites; phony statistics; out and out lies; and worst of all, character assassination. It must work, or the campaigns wouldn't do it. I call it the dumbing down of America. One has to dig hard to find the real facts. Unfortunately, most voters won't take the time to study the real, and I emphasize real, issues the country faces.
It especially bothers me to see how low our president has gone to get re-elected. Back to Chicago politics for the man of hope and change. Thomas Dvorchak Zephyrhills
