Scoop Bar & Grill To Replace Former Whistle Junction
TEMPLE TERRACE - What has come to be known in east Orlando as a hot spot for college students is opening its second establishment near the University of South Florida. Scoop Bar & Grill will replace the former Whistle Junction at 5105 E. Fowler Ave. The opening is expected in late August or early September. Under the ownership of brothers and University of Central Florida graduates Romi and Keith Mawardi, the Fowler Avenue location is meant to be the first of many. It will be equipped with a full-service bar and will serve simple meals and snack foods. Also taking up space in the 13,000-square-foot building will be four pool tables, electronic dartboards, three basketball machines and 10 50-inch and five 42-inch televisions."We pride ourselves in being a great place to hang out and have fun," said Matthew Vaccaro, manager of the Orlando business. "People really like it here, especially the environment." Vaccaro said they plan to do special events and promotions in conjunction with USF's athletic events. They also will most likely provide shuttle service to and from campus, as they do in Orlando with UCF students. "We like to bring a safe, secure, warm atmosphere, and our primary focus and our success has come with catering to college students and other young adults," he said. In keeping with that philosophy, Vaccaro said that hopefully the staff will be composed mainly of students. Details on how to apply for positions will be posted on the facility's marquee at a later date.
