Al Gore's Son Is Arrested On Drug Possession Charges
Published: Jul 5, 2007
Al Gore's son was arrested early Wednesday on suspicion of possessing marijuana and prescription drugs after deputies pulled him over for speeding, authorities said.
Al Gore III, 24, was driving a Toyota Prius about 100 mph on the San Diego Freeway when he was pulled over about 2:15 a.m., sheriff's department spokesman Jim Amormino said.
The deputies said they smelled marijuana and searched the car, Amormino said. They found less than an ounce of marijuana along with Xanax, Valium, Vicodin and Adderall, which is used for attention deficit disorder, he said.
"He does not have a prescription for any of those drugs," Amormino said.
Gore was released from the men's central jail in Santa Ana on Wednesday afternoon after posting $20,000 bail.
The youngest of Al and Tipper Gore's four children and their only son, Gore lives in Los Angeles and is an associate publisher of GOOD, a magazine about philanthropy aimed at young people.
Richie Is Pregnant, Report Says
Mere days before her DUI trial begins Wednesday, news comes that Nicole Richie, 25, is pregnant - a condition that may save her from jail.
TMZ.com, which says it has confirmed the pregnancy, says the father is Richie's boyfriend, 28-year-old Good Charlotte singer Joel Madden. In Touch Weekly says the couple are hard at work planning a summer wedding.
Nicole's legal troubles stem from a December incident during which she was busted driving the wrong way down a Los Angeles freeway and proceeded to admit to police that she was on marijuana and Vicodin.
If found guilty, Richie would ordinarily get a minimum of five days - and a maximum of up to 12 months - in jail.
Get A Designated Driver, Hilton Urges
Paris Hilton is back from vacation in Maui and has a message for her fans: Don't drink and drive.
"Happy 4th of July everyone, and remember to be responsible and have a designated driver!" she wrote Tuesday in a blog entry on her MySpace Web page.
Hilton, 26, was released from jail last week after spending about 23 days behind bars for violating probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case. The notorious party girl has since touted a new beginning - one that she says won't include going out as much.
LaBeouf Thinks Megan Is Foxy
In the new "Transformers" film, even robots can sense the sexual attraction between two humans.
Because stars Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox are just about the most desirable young actors on the planet right now, we asked them about their attraction on and off screen.
"Dude, I'm into her, what do you want?" LaBeouf straightforwardly says. "It's no conjuring. I'm into Megan. What do you want me to say?
"That's just the way it was when we were filming. Immense attraction, on my part, for real."
But she's engaged to Brian Austin Green ("Beverly Hills, 90210"). So this couldn't have been easy work for her.
"No, I didn't have to work," Fox says, laughing about a natural attraction to her robo-roadster movie co-star. "It was there."
