Flubbing Lyrics Spells End For 'Idol' Heartthrob Castro
Published: May 8, 2008
Simon Cowell once told Jason Castro that his face would save him from elimination. Not this time.
The dreadlocked heartthrob was voted off "American Idol" Wednesday as the show narrowed the competition to three finalists: David Cook, David Archuleta and Syesha Mercado.
Castro, 20, from Rockwall, Texas, started off strong in the show's seventh season but lost momentum in recent weeks. He gave weaker performances, and flubbed the lyrics to Bob Dylan's "Mr. Tambourine Man" on Tuesday's performance show.
Cowell predicted Castro's gaffe could spell the end of him. "Jason, I'd pack your suitcase," Cowell told the singer.
Lohan's 'Top Mom' Honor Draws Criticism
The founder of an organization that honored Dina Lohan as a "Top Mom" says things "spun out of control" when the media focused all its attention on the tabloid magnet.
Mingling Moms, a networking group for Long Island mothers, celebrated Lindsay Lohan's mom and others with famous children Tuesday night at its "Girls' Night Out" party at Carlyle on the Green in Farmingdale, N.Y.
Lohan's mothering skills have been widely criticized. The Merrick, N.Y., resident has been blamed for her daughter Lindsay's public missteps, which included a stint in a Utah rehab after two arrests last summer on drunken driving and cocaine charges.
Winehouse Arrest Related To Video
Amy Winehouse was arrested Wednesday in connection with a January video that allegedly shows her doing drugs at a party at her north London home.
London's Metropolitan Police said a 24-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of drug possession. Winehouse's spokesman, Chris Goodman, confirmed his client was in police custody.
"Amy Winehouse voluntarily attended a London police station today by appointment. She was arrested in order to be interviewed and is cooperating fully with inquiries," Goodman said in a statement.

At age 82, it sounds like Mrs. Garrett is still teaching youngsters about the facts of life.
Charlotte Rae, who played boarding-school supervisor Edna Garrett on the early-'80s sitcom "The Facts of Life," says she has a cameo appearance in Adam Sandler's new comedy, "You Don't Mess with the Zohan."
"We make love together," the veteran character actress told AP Television on Tuesday.
"On a table from one to 10, I rate him, 'Not bad,'" Rae said, with a laugh.
