A 29-year-old Tampa man died after an early-morning crash on N. Himes Avenue, police said.
Gabriel A. Rivera was driving north at about 3:30 a.m. when he crossed the double yellow line into the left lane in an attempt to pass a Honda Accord driven by Blanca l. Sanchez-Diaz, of Tampa, police said.
As Sanchez-Diaz slowed to turn left on W. Hamilton Street, Rivera’s motorcycle collided with the front of the car, police said.
Rivera was thrown from the motorcyle into a glass enclosure at a Hart bus stop, police said.
Rivera later died at the hospital. He was not wearing a helmet, police said.
Investigators took blood samples from Sanchez-Diaz for a toxicology analysis, police said. Those results are still pending. She has not been charged with a crime.
Police said they believe that drugs or alcohol may have been a factor in the accident.
Both Rivera and Sanchez-Diaz were coming from local nightclubs, according to police.
