Up To 20,000 Expected At Tampa Rally

Monday marks the first nationwide recognition of immigrant labor in the United States.
On Day Without an Immigrant, as it's being called, legal and illegal immigrants have been asked to stay away from work, school and stores. Many immigrants have asked for the day off, so there could be closings or delays at many area businesses.
The effect in Tampa is likely to be the greatest near Dale Mabry Highway and Columbus Drive, where 10,000 to 20,000 people are expected to gather for a rally from noon until at least 4 p.m.
Up to 170 Tampa police officers will be at the demonstration, patrolling by car, bicycle, horseback and helicopter.
Demonstrators have been asked to stay on the sidewalk along Dale Mabry, but the crowd could stretch for a few miles, block the side roads and even spill into Dale Mabry. If possible, avoid the area after noon.
Those attending the rally can park in lots around Raymond James Stadium. The Tampa Sports Authority is charging $5 per car.
