Man sexually battered woman, 70, in Tampa church, police say
Tampa police are searching for a man who sexually battered a 70-year-old woman in a church on Thursday. The attack happened at Living World Fellowship, 8215 North 13th Street at 11:45 a.m., said Andrea Davis, spokeswoman for the Tampa Police Department. The woman entered the church to get a key to a nearby rental home and as she walked to the home, a man approached her and began asking her questions about the church, Davis said. She walked back to the church and the man asked if he could see the sanctuary, Davis said.The woman unlocked the door and let him in, Davis said. The man then put his hand over the woman's mouth, pushed her down onto a chair and committed a sex act, Davis said. He then ran from the church, Davis said. Police are searching for a black man who weighs between 160 to 175 pounds, is 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall and is between 28 and 30 years old. He had a thin build, short hair and was wearing a green or gray T-shirt and blue jeans.
