Lakeland man dies in Plant City crash
A 69-year-old Lakeland man was killed early this morning when his car swerved into another vehicle on Interstate 4 in Plant City. The 12:37 a.m. wreck occurred in the westbound lanes just west of the Hillsborough-Polk county line, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Charles M. Parker died at the scene. His 1999 Crown Victoria was heading west when it changed lanes and struck a 2006 Honda Civic driven by Glen D. Burnison, 27, of Astatula. The Crown Victoria spun and was struck by a third westbound vehicle, a 2002 Ford Explorer driven by Janet L. Fones, 62, of Dover.Burnison was slightly injured and not hospitalized, but Fones was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center where she was admitted in serious condition, troopers said.
