Gas leak shuts down U.S. 19 in Palm Harbor
U.S. 19 was shut down for two hours in both directions at Nebraska Avenue past Highlands Avenue because of a gas leak, Pinellas County officials say. The gas leak apparently was caused by a private company laying utility lines on the east side of the road, Palm Harbor Fire Rescue said. Clearwater Gas was able to repair two broken 2-inch pipes. The road was closed about 5 p.m. and reopened shortly after 7 p.m.
