Meth found in baby's shoe in Port Charlotte
PORT CHARLOTTE - Charlotte County Sheriff's Office deputies found 1.7 grams of crystal methamphetamine in a 1-year-old girl's shoe when they arrested three people during a New Year's Eve traffic stop in Port Charlotte. In all, 42.3 grams of meth was seized. According to a sheriff's report, a deputy stopped a silver Mercedes SUV Monday night after seeing it veer into the center lane and then sideswipe a curb several times. The driver, Manuel Angel Rolon, told deputies his license was suspended three times. A check of SUV's tag found it registered to a white Chevrolet. As Rolon got out, deputies discovered a clear plastic baggy with white powder and $790 in his shorts pocket. The powder tested positive for methamphetamine. Then, Dodie Allyson Albritton stepped out of the SUV and deputies saw a plastic baggy sticking out of the top of her bra, according to the sheriff's office. There were two smaller baggies inside the baggy that contained powdered methamphetamine.Bret Alexander Rule was in the back seat and deputies saw him moving around and hiding a plastic baggy under his right thigh next to the child in a baby seat, the sheriff's office said. An inventory of the SUV revealed 1.7 grams of crystal methamphetamine in one of the infant's shoes in her mother Albritton's purse, which was within reach of the infant, the sheriff's office said. Albritton had a total of 39.4 grams of methamphetamine; Rolon had two grams methamphetamine; and Rule had .9 grams of methamphetamine. The cash was seized for forfeiture. Rolon, 41, of 321 Fortuna Road, Arcadia, was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, child neglect, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license. Albritton, 20, of 9153 SW Racoon Trail, Arcadia, was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, child neglect and possession of drug paraphernalia. Rule, 29, 30590 Betts Road, Myakka City, was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. All three were transported to the Charlotte County Jail where they remain in custody: Rolon on $202,500 bond, Albritton on $72,500 bond, and Rule on $6,500 bond. The infant's father came from Arcadia to take custody of the child, and the sheriff's office contacted the Department of Children and Families to investigate.
