Massachusetts zoo rents white gator for summer
ATTLEBORO, Mass. — A small Massachusetts zoo wants to add a rare white alligator to its exhibits. But the city-owned Capron Park Zoo in Attleboro doesn't plan on buying the gator, it plans on renting it. Mayor Kevin Dumas asked the city council on Tuesday to appropriate $8,000 to rent the alligator for four months, starting in June and ending in October. The Sun Chronicle reports that technically a loan, the city would be required to pay the alligator's owner, St. Augustine Alligator Farm in St. Augustine $2,000 a month. The zoo is hoping the alligator proves as popular as another rare animal on display — its white lion Ramses The zoo also features sloth bears, a snow leopard and kangaroos.
