Florida's SunPass now accepted on North Carolina toll roads
SunPasses can now be used on North Carolina toll roads, the first agreement to use Florida's electronic transponders in another state. Motorists with SunPasses can now travel the Triangle Expressway, a 19-mile stretch in the Research Triangle Park Region, with the tolls paid electronically. The Florida transponders will also be good on other all-electronic toll roads in the Tar Heel state. Agreements to use SunPasses in more states may be on the way. "Interoperability between SunPass and electronic toll systems in other states is something we've been diligently working toward for some time," Diane Gutierrez-Scaccetti, executive director of Florida's Turnpike Enterprise, said in a release. As part of the joint agreement, Florida is accepting the NC Quick Pass on its toll roads. Tolls will be billed to the accounts established in the account holders' respective states.
