Fire destroys Lithia home
The Hillsborough County Fire Investigator Unit is investigating a fire that destroyed a two-story home in Lithia on Tuesday. The home, located at 645 Thompson Road, was a total loss with damages estimated at $210,000, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue said. The fire didn't cause injuries or fatalities. The Florida Forestry Service discovered the fire while patrolling the area Tuesday morning during a controlled burn and called 911, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue said. Firefighters couldn't enter the home because it was unstable. They extinguished the fire using a defensive attack, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue said.The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office was able to locate the homeowner through his employer. The homeowner is being assisted by the American Red Cross.
