Families displaced after fire at home in East Tampa
Several families have been displaced after an electrical fire destroyed their home early this morning in east Tampa. Tampa firefighters responded at 4:24 a.m. after several 911 calls were placed in reference to a house fire at 2006 61st Street. Firefighters discovered heavy flames and smoke through the roof of the home. Fire officials say multiple families lived in the home. One consists of a grandmother, her boyfriend, and a 17-year-old male grandchild, who were living in the front section. The second was and an adult female grandchild and her boyfriend, who were living in the back portion of the sectioned residence.The American Red Cross will assist in relocating the families, and no injuries were reported, fire officials say. Investigators determined the fire was caused by an electrical malfunction, and the residence has been condemned. An investigation is ongoing.
