Driver dies in fiery crash with semi-trailer in Plant City
An unidentified driver was killed after running a red light and crashing into a semi-trailer in Plant City, causing the car to burst into flames. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of a 2001 Honda Civic ran a red light while driving westbound on Knights Griffin Road. The driver entered the intersection of Knights Griffin Road and State Road 39 and crashed into a semi-trailer driven by Mack O’Dell Toole, 63, of Lakeland, who was traveling northbound on State Road 39, the FHP said The Civic was driven underneath the semi-trailer and burst into flames, the FHP said.The driver of the Civic died at the scene, the FHP said. Toole was not injured. An investigation is ongoing.
