Dog bites off Bradenton boy’s finger, deputies say
A Bradenton man shot and killed a dog after it bit off his son’s finger this evening, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said. At 6:05 p.m., the boy stuck his left hand through slots in a cage to pet the dog, which then bit him, severing the pinky and possibly breaking the boy’s forearm, deputies said. The father removed the dog from the cage and shot it multiple times, killing it, deputies said. He then removed the severed finger from the dog’s stomach while waiting for emergency responders. The child was flown to All Children’s Hospital.The county’s Animal Control department took possession of the dog’s remains. No other information was immediately available.
