Yankees prospect arrested for DUI in Tampa
TAMPA — New York Yankees outfield prospect Mason Williams has been charged with driving under the influence. Tampa police say the 21-year-old Williams was driving a 2012 Range Rover in an erratic manner about 3:08 a.m. today and was clocked at about 53 mph in a 40 mph speed zone. A Tampa police report says Williams appeared impaired when he performed field sobriety exercises. A breathalyzer test showed Williams had a blood alcohol content of 0.06 percent, which is below Florida's 0.08 standard for drunkenness. He was charged with misdemeanor DUI and released on $500 bail. Williams was arrested at 3:08 a.m. today at Dale Mabry Highway and West Nortth B Street.He was released just before noon after posting $500 bond. Court records did not show an attorney for Williams. Selected by the Yankees in the fourth round of the 2010 draft, Williams is hitting .271 this season for Class A Tampa.
