Video shows Winter Haven car theft suspect

A man stole a vehicle from a public library in Winter Haven on Thursday evening.

Winter Haven police officers are searching for the man who stole the vehicle just after 6 p.m. from the Winter Haven Public Library.

The suspect was seen lurking on video in a back hallway at the library and then appeared with an employee’s purse. He dumped the items from the purse on the floor and took the car keys and wallet, police said.

He then went to the parking lot and drove off in a 2012 Nissan Frontier, police said.

Shortly after leaving the library parking lot, the victim’s credit card was used at a nearby Walmart, police said.

The suspect is described as a black male who is 20 to 25 years old. He had short cropped hair. At the time of the robbery, he wore a orange shirt with “Lakeland” written across the front of the shirt. He also wore blue jeans and tennis shoes, police said.

The vehicle and the suspect haven’t been located.

The victim’s vehicle is a red 2012 Nissan Frontier with a Florida tag C61 8TZ.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Winter Haven police Det. Larry Brooks at (863) 401-2256.
