Tampa teen sentenced to six years in state prison
A Tampa teenager with an extensive criminal history has been sentenced to six years in Florida State Prison after pleading guilty to aggravated battery, felony gun possession and other charges, officials said. Kobe Joseph Brantley, 16, was arrested in February on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault, shooting at or into a building, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Investigators requested that the Hillsborough County State Attorney's Office send the case to adult court due to his prior history, investigators said. Brantley has previous arrests on charges of grand theft, armed burglary, trespassing and violation of probation. The request was granted and Brantley was transferred from a juvenile facility to the Hillsborough County Jail without bail, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.Brantley pleaded guilty June 4, authorities said.
