A Tampa man was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison after being convicted of possessing explosives, according to U.S. Attorney A. Lee Bentley III of the Middle District of Florida.
James Lee Minyard, 42, pleaded guilty on Dec. 12.
According to court documents, a search of Minyard’s home turned up multiple explosive devices and chemicals commonly used for explosive devices, including triacetone triperoxide, a powerful explosive.
The search also uncovered a homemade remote control used to detonate explosive devices, the documents said.
The case was investigated by Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the Tampa Police Department, with the assistance of the FBI.
