Tampa man dies in Palm Harbor motorcycle crash

A 24-year-old Tampa man died Tuesday night when his motorcycle was struck by a vehicle in Palm Harbor, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Robert Vath was airlifted to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, where he died from his injuries, the highway patrol said.

Ronald Hunter, 74, of Dunedin, was driving a 2003 Toyota Camry on Countryshire Lane about 6:45 p.m. When he attempted to cross County Road 1, he collided with the 2012 Suzuki motorcycle driven by Vath, the highway patrol said. At the time of the crash, Vath was heading south on County Road 1, the patrol said.

Charges are pending in the crash.

Hunter, who wasn’t under the influence of alcohol, wasn’t injured in the crash, troopers said. His passenger, Jerri Hunter, 73, of Dunedin, was seriously injured and transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital, the patrol said.
