Tampa fugitive to be featured on CNN’s ‘The Hunt’

A Tampa fugitive, who authorities said fled while on house arrest and awaiting trial for a 2012 DUI manslaughter case, will be featured on the CNN series “The Hunt with John Walsh” on Sunday.

Christopher Ponce, 24, has been missing since May 9, 2013, when authorities say he removed his ankle bracelet and fled.

Ponce was driving a 2012 Ford Fusion the wrong way on Interstate 275, south of Interstate 4, at 2:49 a.m. on July 19, 2012 when he struck a 2000 Ford Mustang head on, investigators said. The Mustang’s driver, 20-year-old William Angel, was killed and his two passengers were severely injured, investigators said.

Ponce is wanted by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office on charges of driving under the influence manslaughter, vehicular homicide, two counts of reckless driving involving serious bodily injury and two counts of DUI with serious bodily injury.

Ponce is 5 feet 9 inches tall and 150 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. Ponce could be anywhere in the United States, the U.S. Marshals Service said.

In May, the U.S. Marshals Service announced a $5,000 reward for information leading to his arrest. Anyone with information can call the U.S. Marshals Service at 1 (800) 336-0102 or text 847411 and enter the keyword “USMFL.”
