MIAMI – A man wanted in the killings of his ex-wife and her stepfather in a 2003 Miami double slaying has been extradited from Argentina to face the charges.
U.S. Marshals brought 56-year-old Hugo Quesada from Buenos Aires, Argentina, to Miami last week. Quesada was arrested in Argentina in 2006 and had been fighting extradition. An Argentine court finally approved the extradition in August.
Quesada is charged with the strangulation deaths of his ex-wife, Maritza Quesada, and her stepfather, Emilio Xiques. Police also say he stabbed his ex-wife’s mother, who survived. Authorities say there was a dispute over Quesada’s desire to take the couple’s children to Argentina.
Quesada is scheduled to make his first Miami-Dade court appearance Tuesday.
