Suspect arrested in Carrollwood bank robbery
TAMPA - Hillsborough County sheriff's detectives said they arrested a suspect seen in surveillance images robbing a Carrollwood bank last week. Jeffery John Bilger, 33, of 14704 Penguin Place in Tampa, was linked by forensic evidence to the robbery Friday of a BB&T bank branch, 15312 N. Dale Mabry Highway, detectives said. Bilger was being held on $100,000 bond. Just after 4 p.m. Friday, the robber parked a gold Dodge Caravan van in the parking lot of a Target store at 15240 N. Dale Mabry Highway and walked across Carrollwood Springs Boulevard to the bank. He stood in line a few moments, handed a note to a teller demanding money and left in his van.The description of the suspect matched the suspect in a May 31 robbery at a TD Bank, 9400 Fourth St. N., St. Petersburg, investigators said. Bilger was arrested Monday morning and booked Monday afternoon on bank robbery charges, according to jail records.
