South Howard condo destroyed in fire

TAMPA — A South Howard condominium unit was heavily damaged by fire tonight, Tampa Fire Rescue said.

No one was injured in the 6:15 p.m. condominium fire at the SOHO Condominiums, 1301 S. Howard Ave. The unit, which was deemed uninhabitable after the fire, was the only unit damaged, the fire department said.

Firefighters could see heavy smoke and fire from the window in the second floor unit when they arrived. They brought the fire under control in about 20 minutes.

No one was home at the time of the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
