TAMPA - Six men swarmed a 7-Eleven clerk, physically restraining him before robbing the convenience store of cash and cigarettes, deputies said. The attack occurred about 2:20 a.m. Tuesday at 5001 Memorial Highway in Town 'N Country and was caught on surveillance video released Friday by investigators. After entering the store, one of the men grabbed the clerk and forced him to open the cash register, deputies said. Another man removed money from the register and gathered cartons of cigarettes. The other men remained in front of or inside the store, acting as lookouts, deputies said.
All six ran from the store and headed west along Memorial, deputies said. No vehicles were seen, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said. One of the suspects was described as 18 to 24 years old, 6 feet 3 inches tall and 240 pounds with a muscular build. He wore a black cap and a white T-shirt with an "Express" logo, camouflage shorts, white tennis shoes and black gloves. Another suspect was described as 18 to 24 years old, 5 feet 5 inches tall and 140 pounds with a thin build. He wore a black cap with a white logo, white tennis shoes and black gloves.
