A man wearing a “Scream”-style mask is being sought Tuesday in connection with the robbery of a bank in north Tampa.

About 10:03 a.m., a man dressed in a dark hoodie jumped over the teller’s counter in the Bay Cities Bank, at 14877 Dale Mabry Highway in Tampa, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

He then demanded cash from one teller’s drawer but then removed the cash himself, the sheriff’s office said. He then tried but failed to get another drawer open, jumped back over the counter and left the bank.

He fled in a midsize white sedan that appeared to have tape over anything on the car that would identify it, the sheriff’s office said. The suspect also might be carrying a small knife and wore white-and-blue gardening-style gloves.

Anyone with any information in the case is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (813) 247-8200. Or, to be eligible for cash reward, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS (8477), report the tip anonymously online at Crime Stoppers or text “CSTB plus your tip” to C-R-I-M-E-S (274637).
