Search yields several counts against Seffner man

A Seffner man, a 15-time convicted felon, faces multiple charges after detectives executing a search warrant at his home found drugs, weapons, and stolen identifications.

After a monthlong investigation, detectives on Wednesday searching the home of Gregory Smith, 42, 6221 Williams Rd., found two handguns, ammunition, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

In addition, detectives found numerous W-2 forms, social security cards, Florida driver’s licenses, personal debit cards, “green dot” debit cards, and ledgers with more than 75 victims’ personal identification information and written instructions — with dollar amounts — on how to execute fraudulent tax returns. Detectives say one of the weapons was reported stolen out of Lakeland.

Jail records show Smith was released from Florida State Prison in 2010 after serving a three-year sentence for trafficking in cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of cocaine.

Smith is being held at the Hillsborough County Jail on $44,500 bond.
