The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident in Riverview where a man shot at a driver of a Chevrolet Tahoe Thursday afternoon.
No one was injured in the 3:45 p.m. shooting in the 11700 block of Summer Springs Drive.
The sheriff’s office has interviewed the victim in the Tahoe, but the other people involved fled the scene, the sheriff’s office said.
The incident began when the Tahoe driver was heading south on U.S. 301 and a blue van pulled up and tried to run him off the road, the sheriff’s office said.
The two drivers yelled at each other, the sheriff’s office said. Both vehicles continued driving south. In the area of Rhodine Road, both drivers pulled over, got out of their vehicles and began fighting, the sheriff’s office said.
After the fight, both men got back in their vehicles and drove away. They continued to the intersection of Balm-Riverview and Rhodine roads where they stopped at a red light, the sheriff’s office.
Then, the man in the Tahoe noticed a white van parked near the intersection. An adult man with a gun who was standing by the van, then walked toward the Tahoe, the sheriff’s office said.
The driver of the Tahoe drove off and the man with the gun fired four shots that struck the Tahoe, the sheriff’s office said.
No one was injured in the shooting, the sheriff’s office said.
The man in the Tahoe told investigators he didn’t know the other people, the sheriff’s office said.
The Riverview shooting occurred a day after a shooting outside a Home Depot in Tampa after two drivers got into an argument in the parking lot. No one was hurt in that incident, either, but a car that didn’t belong to any of the people in the dispute was hit twice by bullets.
