Port Richey motorcyclist killed in collision

A 67-year-old Port Richey man who was riding his motorcycle died Friday afternoon when he struck the side of a vehicle in Bayonet Point, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Robert Sigmon died from injuries he sustained in the 4:38 p.m. crash at State Road 52 and Laredo Drive, FHP said.

Sigmon, who was riding a 1989 Harley Davidson, was heading west on State Road 52 approaching Laredo Drive when a 2004 Dodge Intrepid driven by Jessica Ann Davis, 36, of Port Richey, turned right onto State Road 52, into the path of Sigmon’s motorcycle, FHP said.

Sigmon, who wasn’t wearing a helmet, crashed into the passenger side of the Dodge, FHP said.

He was ejected from the motorcycle and died at the scene of the crash, FHP said.

Davis wasn’t injured and wasn’t under the influence of alcohol, FHP said. Tests are pending to determine if Sigmon was under the influence of alcohol, FHP said.
