LAKELAND — A Polk County teacher who was charged April 14 with having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student now is accused of having a relationship with a second student in 2011.
Wednesday afternoon, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office charged Jennifer Fichter, 29, with an additional 20 counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor.
According to police reports, Fichter, who is an English teacher at Central Florida Aerospace Academy, met the student during the 2011-12 school year. The boy, who turned 17 that year, was a junior in one of her classes.
The student told police that they had sex about 20 times between October 2011 and May 2012, according to an affidavit. They had sex both at her Lakeland apartment and at his house when his mother wasn’t home.
Authorities discovered the relationship while they were investigating a four-month relationship Fichter allegedly had with another teenage student, which resulted in an aborted pregnancy.
Fichter told that boy’s mother in a recorded telephone conversation they had sex as many as 30 times since November, Lakeland police said.
Police said she sometimes met the student for sex in Plant City, so she also faces charges in Hillsborough County.
Fichter is being held in the Polk County Jail.
