Polk State Attorney to investigate court allegations
BARTOW - The Polk County State Attorney's Office is investigating allegations made by a former courthouse employee who claims she was sexually harassed and fired after complaining about a judge and bailiff having an affair. The Ledger reports that former judicial assistant Alisha Rupp came forward at a news conference July 24 at her lawyer's Palm Harbor office. Reporters were given a four-page letter detailing her allegations of a "sexually toxic work environment" at the Polk County Courthouse. A spokesman for the state attorney's office says the former courthouse employee's letter of complaint has been received and an investigation has started.
