A Tampa mother who police say whisked her 2-year-old daughter away from a hospital about an hour after the child underwent surgery has turned herself in.
Teosha Blackmon, 29, was charged with child neglect, Tampa police said. The girl was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital to be checked out and appears to be in good condition, police said.
The girl, Constance Bostick, had surgery May 10 at the hospital. A short time later, her mother, Teosha Blackmon, removed the IVs and took the child against a doctor’s advice, police said.
The hospital contacted police to conduct a welfare check on the girl, but both Constance and her mother could not be located. Child protective investigators were called.
On Wednesday, Constance was declared a ward of the state. Officers continued to look for her until Blackmon turned herself in today, police said.
Blackmon has unrelated warrants issued for her arrest on charges of felony grand theft and violation of probation, police said.
