Police: Haines City gunman fires at officer, flees
Haines City police are looking for a man who shot at an officer early this morning and then sped away, striking the officer in the process, authorities say. The officer, who returned fire, was not injured in the incident which occurred at 12:16 a.m. at a service station at 95 U.S. 17/92 W. It was unclear who was driving the car.A pursuit ensued, ending in a supermarket parking lot. The armed man fled from the vehicle on foot and remained at large this morning, police said. Anyone with information about the armed man is asked to contact the Haines City Police Department at (863)421-3636. The suspect is considered armed and dangerous. He was described as being black, in his 20s with a thin build; about 5 foot 9 inches tall, with long dreadlocks. He wore a white T-shirt, red shorts and a black Cincinnati Reds baseball cap. He was last seen running south on F Street near the intersection of U.S. 17 and U.S. 92.
