Manatee County deputy fatally shoots dog
A Manatee County deputy fatally shot an aggressive dog Thursday while trying to track down a person with active warrants, the sheriff's office said. Deputies arrived at 316 20th St. E., Palmetto, but instead of the suspect exiting the home, a brown-and-white dog came out. The animal bared its teeth, growled and lunged at the deputy, who swatted at the dog with his radio, deputies say. The dog continued lunging at the deputy, so he drew his firearm and shot the animal in the right side. The person with the warrant wasn't home.
