Man fined $4,000 for speeding in manatee zone
A Cape Coral man was sentenced in federal court Tuesday to a $4,000 fine for speeding his boat through a manatee protection zone. Juergen H. Kreuzer, 52, pled guilty in July to charges that he operated his boat at 55 miles per hour in the marked zone near Shell Point on the Caloosahatchee River, where the posted speed limit is 25 miles per hour. Kreuzer had seven prior convictions for manatee zone speeding violations, according court documents. Kreuzer operates All Around Boats, a business in Cape Coral that is engaged in boat rentals, fishing and boat tours, the U.S. Attorney's Office said. The case was investigated by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jeffrey F. Michelland.
