Man, 25, charged in Frostproof shooting death
Polk County sheriff’s deputies on Sunday arrested a 25-year-old man in the shooting death of another man in Frostproof late Saturday night. Killed was Travis Lenard Fogle, 25, 922 S. Woodrow Ave., Avon Park. Deputies said that sometime after 11 p.m. Saturday Fogle asked his girlfriend, Petra S. Moore, 3022 Republica De Cuba Ave., Tampa, to take him to the First Baptist Hilltop Church at 200 Maxcey Road in Frostproof. He told the woman that he needed to give something to Jamanus Beck, 25, 721 S. Delaney Ave., Avon Park, deputies said. The couple arrived at the church around 11:30 p.m. and Fogle called Beck to confirm the meeting, deputies said. A vehicle arrived and Fogle got out of the car on the passenger side. Deputies said he didn’t close the door all the way and when Moore leaned over to pull the door shut, she heard a pop.As the other car pulled away, Moore got out of the car and found Fogle on the ground, fatally wounded, deputies said. Later Sunday, Beck was questioned and taken into custody. Deputies said the reason why the two arranged to meet remained under investigation. Beck was charged with murder. Bail had not been set.
