Inmate had paper-clip weapon, Hernando deputies say
A Hernando County Jail inmate is facing a felony charge of introducing contraband to a detention facility after he was found with an improvised weapon made from a paper clip, deputies said. While he was being booked for petit larceny, Verlon Jason Turner, 27, described as a transient, was found Tuesday evening with a jumbo paper clip approximately 4 inches in length, with one end sharpened to a fine point, and the other end was covered with string and cloth as a handle, deputies said. Turner told deputies he intended to harm himself, a report says. Bail is set at $2,500, according to jail records.
