Gunshot victims pull up behind Hillsborough deputy
A vehicle with two gunshot victims pulled up behind a Hillsborough County sheriff’s deputy who was conducting a traffic stop Friday night in Brandon, the sheriff’s office said. According to a report, at 9 p.m., the deputy was at a traffic stop at U.S. 301 and Causeway Boulevard when a truck pulled in behind him. The driver of the truck opened his door and fell to the street with two gunshot wounds to the chest. His passenger had a gunshot wound to the arm. The victims were taken to a local hospital in serious condition, deputies said. The sheriff’s office said preliminary information indicated the shootings happened close to the scene and might be drug-related. No other information was immediately available.
