Family injured in Pasco hit-and-run; driver sought

A hit-and-run crash in Holiday injured a couple and their infant this afternoon, and authorities are searching for the driver.

A 3:21 p.m., father Dakota Harwood and mother Jordan Harwood, both 17, and their 4-month-old son Jayson were walking on the sidewalk near Cincinnati Drive and Chatlin Road, the Florida Highway Patrol. The infant was in a stroller.

A vehicle believed to be a 2000-era Carolina blue Crown Victoria that was southbound on Chatlin struck Dakota Harwood, FHP said. The impact threw him into Jordan Harwood and overturned the stroller. The driver of the vehicle initally stopped, then fled the scene, FHP said.

Jayson Harwood suffered minor abrasions and internal injuries and was flown to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa. Jordan Harwood was taken to Trinity Medical Center with minor injuries. Dakota Harwood was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The driver is described as a white male in his late 20s to early 30s, FHP said.

Anyone with information about the driver or car is asked to contact FHP at (813) 631-4020.
