Elderly Tampa woman’s dog stolen

An elderly woman’s dog was stolen from her yard earlier this week, and Tampa police are asking the public to assist in getting the dog back to its owner.

The woman’s pet Schnauzer, Feffer, was taken from her yard in the area of Gandy Boulevard and Dale Mabry Highway at around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Feffer has been the 86-year-old woman’s companion for eight years, police said.

The woman, whose name wasn’t released, let Feffer out into her fenced-in front yard to go to the bathroon, police said. While they were outside, a vehicle pulled up. A woman got out of the car, reached for the dog and took her, police said.

The car is described as a gold, older model Honda with a Puerto Rican flag hanging from the rearview mirror, police said.

Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay is offering a $1,000 reward for anyone offering information that leads to the arrest of the suspect, police said.

Tampa police can be reached at (813) 231-6130.
