Deputies: Bradenton sanctuary owners face cruelty charges

The owners of a Bradenton animal sanctuary were arrested today and charged with animal cruelty, according to Manatee County deputies.

On Feb. 5, a search warrant was executed on Napier’s Log Cabin Horse and Animal Sanctuary, 20010 State Road 64 E. More than 300 dogs, cats, horses, pigs and other animals were confiscated, deputies said.

Alan Napier, 51, and Sheree Napier, 45, have been charged with 15 counts of aggravated animal cruelty involving nine dogs, five horses and one cat, deputies said.

In addition, Alan Napier faces a count of fraud, deputies said.

More charges are possible as the investigation continues, deputies said.
