A Davenport man is facing multiple drug charges after he was caught with cocaine at a traffic stop, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said today.
Deputies said Jorge L. Valcarcel, 37, 932 Snell Creek Road, was stopped Monday after his Dodge Ram ran a stop sign at South Boulevard West and Pink Apartment Road in Davenport. Detectives found an ounce of cocaine in his jacket pocket, 16 individually wrapped baggies of cocaine, and a firearm in Valcarcel’s truck, deputies said.
A search warrant for Valcarcel’s residence was obtained. and detectives found three more firearms, $4,339 in cash, over 20 grams of cannabis, drug paraphernalia, and approximately 130 additional grams of cocaine, deputies said.
Deputies arrested him for trafficking in cocaine, maintaining a structure/vehicle for drug use, possession of marijuana – over 20 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia, and child neglect. Three children, ranging in ages 3 years to 16 years of age, were in the residence at the time of the arrest.
After being told of his rights, Valcarcel told deputies he was on his way to sell cocaine to a friend when he was stopped by the deputy and that he sells cocaine to make extra cash, deputies said.
He was booked into the Polk County Jail.
