A Clearwater woman has died after she set herself on fire in her garage Wednesday night, Clearwater police said.
A preliminary investigation conducted by Clearwater Police homicide detectives indicates that the burns that Rhonda Wolfe, 44, sustained late Wednesday were self-inflicted. She died just before midnight at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, Clearwater police say.
Clearwater police officers and firefighters responded to Wolfe’s home, 2880 Lemonwood St., just before 11 p.m. after her husband found her and called Clearwater Fire Rescue.
Two gas cans, along with a lighter, were found in the garage next to the victim, and she left a suicide note, police said.
Investigators with several agencies, including the State Fire Marshal’s Office, were investigating the fire, police said.
The autopsy conducted today by the Pasco-Pinellas Medical Examiner’s Office did not find the final cause of death. Toxicology reports are pending.
