Citrus sheriff’s helicopter makes hard landing on U.S. 19
An engine malfunction forced a Citrus County Sheriff’s Office helicopter to make a hard landing Tuesday night on U.S. 19 in Crystal River. The pilot and co-pilot were on routine patrol about 10:55 p.m., when the 1968 OH-6 helicopter was forced down about a half-mile south of the Crystal River Airport, the sheriff’s office said. The pilot had minor injuries and was treated at the scene. The co-pilot reported no injuries. The Federal Aviation Administration will be notified of the incident, the sheriff’s office said.
