Brandon man hospitalized after shootout
A man was shot Monday afternoon during a shootout in the parking lot of a Brandon apartment complex, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said. Jonathan Diaz, 31, of Brandon was in stable condition after being transported by emergency helicopter to Tampa General Hospital, the sheriff's office said. Just before 5 p.m., deputies went to Brandon Hospital after learning that Diaz was brought in by his girlfriend with a gunshot injury. The shooting took place at the complex where Diaz lives, located at 1652 Providence Trace in Brandon.Diaz and an acquaintance, both of whom were armed, got into an argument in the complex's parking lot, the sheriff's office said. Shots were fired, and Diaz was shot several times. It isn't known if the other man was shot, the sheriff's office said. The case remains under investigation. Stay with TBO.com for updates.
